Ecov CEO: “Fraud Happened” - How France Cleaned Up Carpooling

What if your neighbour’s car worked like public transport picking up strangers along the interstate?

That’s the idea behind Ecov, one of the French startups born from a policy experiment that turned carpooling into public infrastructure. I spoke with Ecov’s CEO Thomas Matagne about how France’s mobility reforms helped dozens of startups get their first contracts, and how the country later cleaned up the subsidy system that made it all possible.
